Australian teenage sensation Dyson Daniels achieved his dream when he was selected in the NBA draft, but it was his mother who stole the show.
Australian Dyson Daniels’ mother stole the show in the 2022 NBA Draft (AEST) on Friday.
Before Daniels was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 8 draft pick, he took the stage with his mother Brikitta Kool-Daniels on his arm — a family moment that has since gone viral, reports the NY Post.

“Dyson Daniels is going to be a trending topic tonight,” tweeted journalist Troy Machir, including a photo of Daniels and his mother, wearing a slit white dress and peep toe heels.
“NBA Twitter will explode after seeing Dyson Daniels mom,” one person tweeted.
“Dyson Daniel’s mum is a generational prospect,” another fan tweeted.
Another person asked if Daniels would be a trending topic because of his mother or his silver metallic costume – which one fan compared to “tinfoil”.
Throughout the night, Daniels’ mother also shared a number of photos on Instagram from inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Daniels previously played with the NBA G League Ignite. The Aussie product made his debut for the Australian Senior National Team in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifier.
His father, Ricky Daniels, started a professional basketball career after playing for NC State.
Daniels’ mother wasn’t the only parent fans were obsessed with on NBA Draft night.
Chet Holmgren was taken by Oklahoma City Thunder with the No. 2 pick, but viewers were immediately drawn to his father.
Many thought he bore a striking resemblance to movie villains such as Wolf “The Dentist” Stansson from “D2: The Mighty Ducks.”
“Chet Holmgren’s dad looks like an early 1990s movie villain. Ponytail, blazer over black T-shirt,” one user joked.
Another wrote: “Chet Holmgren’s dad looks like the kindergarten cop villain.”
