COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Athletics Ames Burton earned a spot on the U.S. team for the U20 World Championships in August.
Competing at the U20 U.S. Athletics Championships, she threw a 54.08m / 177-5 discus on Friday in Eugene, Oregon – good for the No. 4 all-time performance in Mizzou. She will represent Team USA at the U20 World Championships (Cali, Columbia) in August. Burton spent his first year redshirted in 2022 and still has four seasons of Black & Gold eligibility.
In Thursday’s national championship action, Christopher Conrad ran a 1:50.29 to finish 25e in the 800m preliminaries. In the 1500m preliminaries, Karissa Schweizer finished second in her heat and 15e in total (4:14.80) to qualify for Saturday’s event final. Taylor Ciccolini finished fifth in the U20 javelin (45.05m / 147-9).
