Battlefield 2042 Makes 63 Changes Without Telling Anyone

Two days ago, DICE released huge news Battlefield 2042 update that brought a ton of changes to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X gameplay. The patch notes for the update were massive, but apparently they weren’t not conclusive, as a Reddit user has since discovered not one, not two, but 63 and counting “secret” changes to the game. Naturally, most of these changes aren’t hugely noteworthy, but it’s odd that they weren’t included, or at least it would be odd if that didn’t happen seemingly with every update.

Below, you can check out every change discovered so far. If any other changes are discovered, we’ll make sure to update the story with said changes.

That said, it should be noted that not all of these changes have been verified and none of them have been confirmed by DICE or EA or anyone involved with either party.

  • End of Season 1 #1 countdown has been added to the main AOW lobby screen (ending in September)
  • #2 Lobby and map music fixed
  • #3 Recon drone now moves very slowly with c5 on it
  • #4 Sundance only gets 1 grenade instead of 2 like before and does much less damage than before.

  • #6 VCAR, SCAR has a new scope, TARGET 8T 1.25-4.5x, it’s an angled ironsight

  • #8, it looks like they’ve improved hit frequency and damage output. shots hit the target more consistently and time to kill is lower compared to 1.0. (Tested with AK)
  • #9 There is a different sound when taking an objective, there are also arrow indicators on the minimap towards objectives now
  • #10 Boris’ Serebro Centurion visor changed from red to black. It looks lame now.
  • #11 [BUG] They still haven’t fixed the laser sights…
  • #12 [BUG] The radio still does not work in the condor*.
  • #13 New Added: Equipment (Nades, Gadgets, etc.) and Vehicles now display their Mastery Level with the colored badge next to them in the Collect/Load menu.
  • #14 There is now a green cone in front of the player on the minimap
  • #15 New enemy grenade nearby icon/outline
  • #16 Force ownerless electric doors to open much faster
  • #17 New team leader team command system like how BF1+BF5 had it in rose commo and you can select flags to attack/defend
  • #18 After the round ends, everyone is stopped in the last position they were in. Can no longer move in one direction
  • #19 New “pulse” type effect on revive icon when “revive request” is held
  • #20 New “Deny/Cross” type effect on Nixon’s Revive when “Deny Revive” is held
  • #21 New EMP Grenade Effects
  • #22 Ability to zoom on maps + marker
  • #23 Ok this one is a little weird, not sure if it’s a bug.
  • #24 Wildcat has a large blue box around your crosshairs. It’s also on tanks
  • #25 Bobbing effect has been added to your screen when using Tactical Sprint
  • #26 70mm Night Bird rockets fire at a slower rate of fire
  • #27 new air raid sound effects in BT mode
  • #28 PS4 version on PS5 textures and resolution seem improved. With texture loading time.
  • #29 [BUG] This is a change that was made several patches ago but still bugs me and they never fixed it: the main menu on PS5 plays at 30fps. Please add it to the list so the developers can see it.
  • # 30 threads have been added to the scar
  • #31 The 70mm rocket pods on the Night Owl had both their rate of fire reduced and their resupply time increased
  • #32 Defending vehicles on Breakthrough have been nerfed, at least on Hourglass. I don’t know if the balance of the vehicle has been completely revoked
  • #33 Maybe an oversight, but the box that says skip the killer camera no longer lines up with the killer info panel.
  • #34 Also, I’m not entirely sure, but I feel like battle sounds (gunshots, explosions) are more present in the map spawn screen.
  • #35 There is a new “tink” sound when capturing points.
  • #36 New voice lines I’ve never heard before, a friendly Sundance said “these grenades are screwed” or something when I placed a downed Irish sentry.
  • #37 A green circle imitated from a tank when a teammate jumped into it. Never seen this before.
  • #38 40mm Incendiary no longer bounces off walls. SFAR incendiary grenades now explode on impact and fire sticks to vehicles
  • #39 They Fixed BSV-M Level 1 Mastery Skin
  • #40 They removed adaptive triggers on PS5…sucks because I keep accidentally firing my gun now since the resistance isn’t there
  • #41 You can access the main menu (to update your loadout!) from the “waiting to fill lobby” and “waiting to deploy” screens. Previously, pressing Start only opened one option to quit or stay in the game.
  • #42 You can press tab to see the scoreboard while waiting for players to join
  • #43 Fixed Russian Air Force marking on Hannibal
  • #44 New sounds when selecting gadgets/weapons
  • #45 Text on HUD now has a glow
  • #46 Enemy laser sights seem to have a stronger effect when looking at them
  • #47 EOR screen now shows most kills (maybe it used to too)
  • #48 A new holographic sight for the M44 called the PP1 holo?
  • #49 When you hold Heal to heal yourself as a falck, the animation is sped up.
  • #50 Maybe I was just unconscious before this patch, but it looks like they’ve added a sound effect if you try to use a gadget (like ammo boxes) that isn’t currently available.
  • #51 When your character burns. He/she starts screaming like crazy or as if burning.
  • #52 Casper’s Passive Ability (Motion Sensor) is disabled in the Danger Zone. Bug maybe?
  • #53 Seems to have removed the new 5x scope from the DM7? He unequipped it with my loudspeaker and I can’t find it anymore.
  • #54 Seems to be something with friendly vehicle points. They do not appear in some cases until you are very close.
  • #55 The UI for Alternate Weapon Mode (X) and Single/Auto Fire Type has been moved and is much bigger and clearer in the UI
  • #56 Underbarrel grenade launcher icon changed
  • #57 HEAT shells have been nerfed. They are no longer one-hit jets.
  • #58 [BUG] BUG – When in a vehicle, at least as a secondary gunner, and looking left and right, the minimap does not rotate with players field of view.
  • #59 The Fusion Holo’s red dot is much smaller and more refined. I don’t have a before or after photo vending machine, but if you check in-game you should be able to see it.
  • #60 One last thing they changed the HUD for Breakthrough.
  • #61 SU57 has been nerfed hard. I think it’s even with the F35 now.
  • #62 Mountains are best landed by parachuting. previously cliff side on exposure never pushed you back.
  • #63 Revolutionary layout modified on Exposure.
