The suspected mobster who shot two cops at a California motel killed himself after shooting the officers, according to coroner’s records online.
Justin Flores, 35, committed suicide on the sidewalk outside the Siesta Inn Motel, where he killed the El Monte Police Corporal. Michael Paredes and Officer Joseph Santana on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Department.
Flores’ cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head. Officials said Flores died in a shootout with other officers after killing Paredes, 42, and Santana, 31, inside the motel while responding to a domestic incident.
Paredes and Santana died of gunshot wounds to the head, according to coroner’s records.
After shooting the officers, Flores ran outside and gunfire was exchanged with other cops, officials previously said.
Progressive Los Angeles County prosecutor George Gascón has come under increasing scrutiny over the shooting, with Santana’s mother blaming the prosecutor for her son’s death.
Flores was on probation at the time of the double homicide after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal possession of a firearm last year.
Flores’ probation officer has asked the alleged gang member to return to court later this month, according to court records.
