Catalans Dragons U19s win 40 games in a row

The Catalans Dragons Under-19 side have just achieved the incredible feat of claiming their 40th successive victory.

It’s no surprise that the senior side are currently enjoying a purple smudge in terms of the club’s Super League history, with the youngsters’ success pushing them further.

The unbeaten run spans three years since that day (November 30) in 2019 when they beat Avignon 56-16.

The young Catalans are taking part in the Elite One U19 championship in France, having withdrawn from the academy Super League four years ago due to travel costs.

The Covid-19 outbreak ended their 19/20 season early, but they had already produced 11 wins on the spin by then.

A perfect season in 21/22 followed, with 22 wins in 22 games to lift both the league and the cup, and now with the current season they have had the chance to extend it.

Their seventh victory of the current season means they have collected 40 straight wins and are flying high at the top of the league.

The team will play again this weekend (December 3) and will look to remain invincible.

A fan on Twitter commented on their achievement: “They have a coach who knows how to bring out the best in these young players. Amazing trainer.

That coach in question is Justin Murphy who played for the Catalans at the end of his career after having a very brief stint with Widnes.

Murphy scored an impressive 54 tries in 66 games to end his career with the Dragons and the 44-year-old is clearly transforming well into a coach with the development and dominance of these young players.
