A Commonwealth Games fencing gold medalist has been appointed by property consultancy Vail Williams as a building surveyor.
Calum Maynard has joined the Surrey regional team at the Woking office after six years with construction consultancy Summers-Inman.
The international epee fencer was part of the England team that won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Canberra in 2018.
At Summers-Inman, Maynard gained hands-on building surveying experience from his London office, specializing in moisture and mold surveys, EPC assessments and stock condition surveys.
He has carried out planned preventative maintenance reports on over 200 college-owned accommodation at the University of Oxford and acted as an independent monitoring surveyor to lenders on several projects.
“I was looking for a new challenge and I am both honored and gratified to have been appointed by a firm of Vail William’s stature,” Maynard said.
Geoff Fallon, Regional Managing Partner of Vail Williams in Surrey, added: “In all my time in this industry I have never hired a Commonwealth Games gold medalist before, but it must be emphasized that we have not not named Calum due to his athletic prowess.
“He’s here because he’s a great building surveyor, a good all-rounder with a lot of experience, and we hope he performs brilliantly in a range of specialties for Vail Williams.”
Vail Williams’ provides investment and development advice, construction advice, property valuation, planning, tenancy advice, property asset management, commercial rates and occupancy advice.
