Fortnite Guardian Shield Added To Loot Pool – Here’s How To Get It

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 was a huge hit with battle royale fans, introducing a host of fun and exciting weapons, utility items, and vehicles to enjoy – and Epic isn’t done yet. While we won’t see a full update for another week or two, the first patch of the year brought a little surprise to keep things interesting – the all new Guardian Shield Object. This defensive tool is not found just anywhere, but if you manage to get your hands on it, it can be a great help for your team. Here’s where to find the Guardian Shield and how it works.

Where to find the Guardian Shield and how it works

The Guardian Shield can be found exclusively in Oathbound Chests. These large white chests only appear in areas of the map that appear to be in the middle of fall, with yellow grass and colorful trees. Some locations with fairly easily accessible spawns of Oathbound chests include Breakwater Bay and The Citadel in the northwest section of the map.

The Guardian Shield acts much like Reinhardt's shield in Overwatch - with a twist.

The Guardian Shield is a defensive item that can be deployed while on the move or dropped to the ground to act as a stationary barrier. By holding down the fire button, you can position the shield as needed while you move and protect your position. You can throw it to the ground at any viable spot the same way you would throw any other item to give yourself time to heal or reposition yourself if needed.

While the Guardian Shield is undoubtedly a useful defensive tool, it won’t protect you forever. After a short while, it will start to turn purple, in which case it’s time for you to consider your next move, as it’s about to fade away and leave you exposed. In other words, you can’t lock yourself away with him permanently, so you’ll always need to have a plan in place for what to do when his power runs out.
