The popularity of the PlayStation 5 is undeniable, so much so that it’s been hard to buy one since its launch.
It’s far from tiny, but what it lacks in compact form factor it makes up for in gaming capabilities. It’s a great home entertainment piece of kit and something to really covet. With next-gen performance that includes lightning-fast game load times, ray tracing and HDR10 and more.

PlayStation fans rejoice, there are plenty of amazing savings on accessories and PS Plus this Black Friday.

The original Nintendo Switch was a real game-changer, and the Switch OLED model made it even more appealing.
With plenty of recent and modern games coming to the Switch, there’s plenty of reason to want one, besides access to classic Nintendo adventures on a powerful portable handheld.
The Nintendo Switch OLED is a beautifully good handheld console that offers one of the best experiences around.
The best of the rest
There is no denying that some great gaming devices have been launched lately. We’ve seen and enjoyed a number of them that we highly recommend you consider.
The Pico 4 is an interesting alternative to the Meta Quest 2 that we found to have great potential. It’s affordable yet packed with power to deliver a beautiful and immersive VR experience.
The Steam Deck is another handheld that’s well worth your money. It’s more powerful than the Switch, but may not last as long before needing to be recharged. It’s easy to play with and has the power to run all kinds of games hassle-free. It is also much easier to buy now than before. meaning it’s attractive too.
The Xbox Series X is another gaming beast and a great alternative to the PlayStation 5. It’s also so close to being a mini gaming PC that it’s just a console now.
What are the Pocket-lint Awards?
The EE Pocket-lint Awards are held annually to celebrate the best in technology from the last 12 months. Products must be fully reviewed by the Pocket-lint team to be considered for awards, with judging taking place towards the end of the year. Through a selection and shortlisting process, the panel of expert judges scores the devices to come up with the overall winner and a highly recommended finalist.
The Pocket-lint Awards were held for the 19th time in 2022.
