Guimaraes and Moldauer were joined by first-year senior Asher Hong, 2020 Olympian Brody Malone and Stanford freshman Khoi Young to make up Team USA in their first international competition of the year. The team competed against 11 other countries at the Cup.
Team USA registered a collective 249.100 in a four-up-three-count format to beat the Italian team’s 247.800 score by just over a point. Host-country Germany followed in third with a score of 241.800.
Moldauer’s 14.400 score on pommel horse earned him second on the event, and Guimaraes’ score of 14.100 landed him seventh on pommel.
Moldauer also registered top-five finishes on floor (14,400) and still rings (13,750) but did not advance to Day 2 due to the one-athlete-per-country limit on each event.
OU will host No. 9 California at its final home meet of the season on Saturday, March 19, at 6 p.m. CT at McCasland Field House.
