IST America Celebrates 30 Years In NA

IST America announces that it is celebrating 30 years of providing UV curing solutions to the North American market. As one of the first daughter companies formed by Germany-based IST Metz in 1992, IST America initially established a strategically based Chicago-based sales and service organization to target OEM press manufacturers and end users on the rapidly growing North American market.

Throughout the 1990s, IST America’s influence grew rapidly, encompassing both the sheet and roll markets. During this decade UV provided an advanced application platform to sheetfed printers, providing a more flexible and productive solution with the ability to print on the widest range of substrates while providing the ability to filter dry or semi-dry between printing units. . Around the same time, the narrow web market was witnessing the rapid increase in press installations that included multiple print formats like letterpress, UV flexo and rotary screen on a single press. Buyers of printed packaging demanded greater opacity, greater color integrity, and finer vignettes and gradients with their printed products – specifications that were beyond the scope of conventional printing and drying methods.

IST America President Bill Bonallo comments, “If we have any secret, it’s the quality of the products we represent with the team we’ve built. They are knowledgeable, driven, loyal and truly understand the sense of urgency our clients demand and deserve. In the United States, the industries we serve operate fifty-two weeks a year, seven days a week, and normally twenty-four hours a day. Businesses don’t have a lot of patience when it comes to needing support, no matter what time of day or day of the week. IST America has the largest parts inventory of any IST subsidiary in the world. With tens of thousands of systems in the field, our install base is massive and we proudly power the vast majority of the world’s best-known printing and packaging companies. We take IST’s high performance, highly reliable equipment and provide our customers with the same level of attention and service that their customers have come to expect from them, every UV curing day. This is our formula for success.

Today, IST America is still headquartered in the Chicago area with sales and service personnel in strategic locations across the United States. The company’s in-house team manages parts operations, service operations, financial management, logistics and technical support. IST remains a leader in influencing how the printing, packaging and industrial markets optimize print quality, durability, energy efficiency and performance.
