A mum from the US has issued a warning to parents to check in with their daycare centre’s cleaning habits, after she took home her daughter’s sippy cup to replace and found mould build up all throughout the cup.
“My baby has been drinking mould for months all day daily!!” the mum captioned the clip on TikTok that has shocked more than 2.5 million viewers.
Based on the mum’s claims, the daycare centre failed to clean the cup properly, although they requested her daughter be sent in with two cups that could stay with her at the center.

The video captioned ‘Make sure your kids’ school is properly cleaning their 360 cups’ shows the mum pulling the silicone lid off the cup to reveal a build up of mould underneath. The mould is not only on the bottom of the silicone but also in and amongst the groves and holes of the lid.
She explained that her daughter had brought the cup home one day so she decided to wash it before giving it back to the center and couldn’t believe what she found.
“GROSS. This probably explains her constant stubborn cough,” she wrote.
To show users just how dirty the cup was she compared it to a clean one she had at home which had been properly washed by her on a regular basis.
The mum explained to users that the daycare requested she bring and leave two cups for her daughter at the center that would be cared for by them so there was no reason to suspect they weren’t being cleaned properly.

“This is months of old milk and mould build up. They have been there for at least six months,” she shared with shocked followers.
The cup that the daughter was using was a 360 Cup, which the mum does admit many people don’t know that it can be pulled apart to be cleaned.
“I think it was an honest oversight. Not everybody knows these type of cups can be broken apart like this. This is not an ‘I’m mad about it post’ just an awareness spread for others that use them & don’t know either,” she commented on the clip.
Followers appreciating the warning and new information, “I didn’t even know that came off!”
However some daycare centre workers were left outraged by the oversight.
“Yeah no, that is not acceptable. I’m a teacher and literally take apart everything, cups and bottles so this does not happen.”
