Liverpool fans stranded at the Rocket as Paris coach ‘drives past’ huge crowd

Huge groups of Liverpool fans found themselves stranded at the Rocket after their coaches in Paris overtook them.

Fans traveling to the Champions League final on Friday were given no route to the game when their pre-booked transport failed to collect them. A group arrived at the meeting point at 4.15pm but were still waiting at 11pm after a number of buses passed but did not stop.

According to some fans at Rocket Crossroads, five coaches that had been booked by fans stopped empty near the crowd but continued driving. They haven’t been able to get in touch with the company since then and many won’t make it to the finals now.

Jay Burke and his three friends paid £179 for the coach trip which would have taken them to Dover, Paris to the fan zone and home after the game. The 25-year-old West Derby player told ECHO: “We arrived at the Rocket on Queens Drive for a scheduled pick up at 4.15pm.

“It was supposed to be 6:15 p.m. but the company emailed everyone two days ago that pick up had moved to 4:15 p.m. Hundreds of us had been there since 4:15 p.m. and only about five of the 24 coaches that arrived.

“The four of us were there until 11 p.m. with no communication, just hoping for a coach to come. A coach came at 10 p.m. and everyone was flooded to get on, no register or anything, just first come, first served.”

Jay said when he finally got through to the company after more than 200 calls, they told him the buses had arrived and no one was there. He was then told to call back Monday for a refund.

The group are still trying to find a way to get to Paris before kick-off on Saturday night.

Dozens of other fans also took to Twitter to complain about the coaches’ situation on Queens Drive tonight. A large number of fans will be absent.

Jordan Halliwell said on Twitter: “This was supposed to be picked up at 4pm from the Rocket Pub. It’s now 10.30pm and still nothing.

“Trip to Paris ruined now, place at home. No communication from the company.”

On Facebook, Demi Edmunds said: “The coach to go to the final in Paris was supposed to arrive to pick us up at 4:15 p.m. today and every coach stopped and left people who weren’t even supposed to be on. this coach number. Then to top it off our coach walked past us beeping with no one on it and then when some angry fans called they said “the company manager came by and he didn’t there was nobody”.

“Disgusted and disappointed fans have been waiting. Six hours of my life wasted. I’m currently on my way home so disappointed.”
