It’s a miracle more people haven’t been injured in a crash, says aviation expert

Weighing in on the crash at Miami International Airport, aviation expert Scott Harrington told CBS News it’s a miracle more people weren’t injured in the plane crash.

“Absolutely, it looked like…again, I’m not exactly sure of the details of this theft…but it looked like the pilots had done a good job of keeping it all in one piece. To stop it so that the aircraft can be stopped in a position allowing lifesaving equipment to access the aircraft,” he said.

Pilots are trained to be calm in such situations, he added.

“We are just super focused. Our brain goes into flight mode. We focus on the problem, we focus on finding the solution as much as possible. Sometimes if a mechanical part breaks there really isn’t much we can do.
