Oboh set for first LPGA test in U.S. | The Guardian Nigeria News

Nigeria’s biggest golf export, Georgia Oboh, will take part in its first LPGA tournament in the United States this weekend, titled “Shoprite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer”.

The tournament will take place from today through June 12 at Seaview, A Dolce Hotel, Bay Course, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

According to the experts, it promises to be fierce and thrilling given the quality of the ground which will oscillate during the par 71.

To make it into the Acer Classic, Oboh put in an outstanding performance last weekend in qualifying on the same course, playing +2 on the par 73, one shot behind first-place finisher Vicky Hurst of the United States, who played +1 on par 72.

The Edo State-born professional raised at Manchester, UK-based Ikoyi Club, Lagos Golf Course is the only Nigerian player on the Ladies European Tour (LET) card. She is expected to have an emphatic impact on the event.

Oboh’s father, who is also his caddie, Geoffrey Oboh, said: “Georgia is in good spirits and will certainly prove her worth. She never leaves anything to chance without asking some spiritual supplications. I believe in praying to God in everything I do.

All told, the Acer Classic will provide plenty of opportunities for Georgia Oboh in the LPGA, just as she won her first title – World Teens Championship – some eight years ago in the United States.
