Philips TAG5106 gaming headset comes with 45-hour battery

(Pocket-lint) – You wouldn’t normally associate the Philips brand with gaming, but that may soon change following the launch of the Philips TAG5106 headphones.

Manufactured under license by MMD, which is also the brand’s partner for Philips-labeled monitors, the gaming headset supports both 2.4GHz wireless (with an included USB dongle) and Bluetooth. This means they can work with a mobile device as well as a PC or PlayStation, with the ability to switch between standards at the touch of a button.

There’s a 50mm neodymium dynamic magnet driver in each ear and a noise-canceling boom mic that can be detached, so you can also wear them when traveling. The helmet has a closed design.

In addition to wireless support, you can also connect the headset to any device (like an Xbox Wireless Controller) via a 3.5mm jack and included 1.5m cable.

The headset supports DTS Headphone:X 2.0 for virtual 7.1 surround sound and comes with a battery life of up to 45 hours. LED lighting on each ear is provided for style, while the cups have a distinctive angled look.

The Philips TAG5106 gaming headset is available now, priced at £74.99 in the UK, we’re currently awaiting retailer info and European pricing.
