Stanley Cup Playoffs Player Props: Expect an inspired MacKinnon

Following their Game 5 slump, the Colorado Avalanche will take their second chance to hold off the St. Louis Blues tonight in the only game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Returning Wednesday night in Denver, the Blues erased 3-1, 4-3 deficits before Tyler Bozak scored the OT winner to avoid elimination. Of course, the Avalanche are looking to eliminate the Blues for a second straight season and advance to the Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years.

With that in mind, here are some accessory bets to consider:

PROP 1: Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 points (+160) + Over 4.5 SOG (-140)

In case you missed it, MacKinnon was amazing in Game 5, scoring a hat trick and adding an assist. On top of that, he had six shots on goal to clear the 4.5 count for the first time in three games. After this performance, how can we not expect an encore tonight, especially given the stakes for the Avalanche. Once again I expect an inspired MacKinnon.

PROP 2: Cale Makar Over 0.5 assists (-140)

By his standards, in five games, Makar has been silent offensively. That said, the phenom has picked up one assist in three straight outings, which is obviously great news if you’re into that prop. Meanwhile, Colorado’s power play is just 2 for 12 in the series, which, depending on how you look at it, means they’re due. Makar performs PP1; connect the dots.

PROP 3: Vladimir Tarasenko Over 2.5 SOG (-160)

The sniper netted a goal and an assist in the Game 5 thriller, something the Blues will unequivocally need more tonight. If nothing else, Tarasenko has been shooting the puck much more consistently lately. In his last three outings, he has tallied 12 shots (6.1.5) on goal, an average of four per game. Let’s hope for a motivated Tarasenko tonight!
