The United States youth national team has a bright future ahead

The future looks bright for the USA Soccer Federation after the National Men’s Under-20 Team beat St. Kitts and Nevis at the start of the 2022 CONCACAF U20 Championship on Saturday. Team USA prevailed and won 10-0, their second-best goalscoring tally ever in the tournament.

Paxten Aaronson a key player

Seven different players scored in the win over St. Kitts and Nevis with Brenden’s younger brother Paxten Aaronson scoring a brace. Also, five players made their international debuts with the U20 team against the Sugar Boyz: namely Antonio Carrera, Noah Allen, Michael Halliday, Alejandro Alvarado Jr. and Niko Tsakiris.

USA had full control of the game and the good news is that Tsakiris, Mauricio Cuevas, Rokas Pukstas, Cade Cowell and Tyler Wolff scored their first international goals for USA in the win. For the first time in the tournament’s history, VAR was available for every game and it was used once by the referee to give USA a penalty which was scored by Caden Clark in the 33rd minute.

The youth team will join the action on June 20 against Canada and will complete Group E activity two days later against Cuba. The tournament takes place in Honduras and all matches will be played at Estadio Nacional de Tegucigalpa.
