Like many other areas of PC technology, high-end monitors have become increasingly expensive in recent years, with state-of-the-art panels often topping the $1,000 mark. But that doesn’t mean you have to drop a stack of Benjamins to get a good experience, or even one of the best gaming monitors. While the price of the best gaming monitors has risen in recent years, the cost of features once premium dropped significantly at the same time. There are several surprisingly well-specified sub-$200 gaming monitor deals available during Black Friday deal season, with new deals every day.
In this price range, you won’t get OLED, full-array local dimming, or ultra-fast 360Hz refresh – though we’ve seen a 360Hz MSI model reach $199, so there could be have more to come. What you can usually find under $200 are IPS or VA panels (the former is better for color and viewing angles, while the latter is better for contrast), equal refresh rates or higher than 144 Hz and curved screens.
Most of these budget gaming monitors are also 27-inches or smaller, although there are 32-inch options if you don’t mind 1080p resolution at that size. The low pixel density of a display like this is usually more noticeable in productivity tasks than in games. Nut if you hate low pixel density, stick to the smaller 1440p options, save for something more expensive, or keep an eye on our Best Black Friday Deals on Gaming Monitors blog and hope something pops up.
