WASHINGTON, June 23 (Reuters) – The husband of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Thursday, weeks after he was arrested for state driving. of drunkenness in Napa County, Calif., the county attorney announced.

“Today, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint, charging Paul Pelosi for motor vehicle collision and arrest for driving under the influence on May 28,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement, adding that he had filed misdemeanor charges.

“The charges filed today include driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or higher causing injury,” the statement said. His blood sample had a blood alcohol level of 0.082% and the sample was taken just over two hours after the crash, the district attorney’s office said.

The House Speaker’s husband could not be reached for comment.

Nancy Pelosi was in Rhode Island at the time of the incident, giving a commencement speech at Brown University and her spokesperson said she “will not comment on this private matter.”

The couple have been married since 1963.
