United States’s mining industry IT recruitment activity rises 1.3% in April 2022

The U.S. mining industry saw a 1.3% increase in IT hiring activity in April 2022 compared to the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

Overall industry hiring was down 2.52% in April 2022 compared to March 2022.

Of total mining industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.22% share in April 2022, registering a 0.05% increase from the average share of the last three months.

Top Five Job Classifications in US Mining Industry IT Recruitment Activity in April 2022

Of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for 95.04% of the U.S. mining industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in April 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 47.93% in April 2022, registering 1.75%

growth compared to the previous month.

2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 18.18%, an increase of 29.41% from the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous IT occupations held an 11.57% share, down 30% from March 2022.

4) IT Support Specialists captured a 9.92% share, down 7.69% from the prior month.

Top Five Mining Companies in US IT Recruitment Activity in April 2022

The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 5.97% average growth in share of overall U.S. mining IT hiring activity in April 2022 compared to March 2022.

RTI International Metals posted 24 IT jobs in April 2022 and grew 33.33% from the previous month, followed by Nucor with 22 jobs and a growth of 69.23%. Freeport-McMoRan with 12 IT jobs and Aditya Birla Management Corp with 7 jobs, saw a decline of 53.85% and growth of 16.67%, respectively, while Alcoa saw a 50% increase with 6 job offers in April 2022.

Junior-level job openings dominate in April 2022

Junior-level jobs held a share of 54.55%, down 1.49% from March 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 29.75%, saw an increase of 38.46 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level job postings with a 15.7% share, down 24% from March 2022.
