US shooters dominate trap competitions

United States shotgun shooters have dominated the trap competitions at the XIII CAT Championships 2022 in Lima, Peru, to claim Olympic quotas in the men’s and women’s categories, Saturday, November 12.

Ariel Skinner led an American podium sweep in the women’s competition and secured a Paris 2024 shooting quota for her country in the process. Skinner, 27, beat Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Kayle Browning in second place, with Rachel Tozier complete the podium.

In the men’s competition, Will Hinton in a duel with the Guatemalans Jean-Pierre Brol for the gold medal and the place available. Hinton won both awards and shared the podium with his compatriot Derek Haldeman In third place. Brol had to settle for the silver medal.

The 13th Confederacion Americana de Tiro (CAT) Championships featured competition at gun, rifle, skeetand trap.

Parisian qualification places were available in all individual disciplines, as well as continental titles in the individual, team and mixed events, as well as places for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.
