Yield Guild Games Doubles Down on Blockchain Gaming

The Crypto Gaming Guild continues to grow despite an ongoing bear market in the industry.

Builders continue to build

Despite the overall bear market, Yield Guild Games, one of the premier PlaytoEarn blockchain gaming guilds in the industry, remains bullish on the space and is doubling down on investments.

Recent market conditions have not been favorable for most blockchain gaming stakeholders. Major blockchain games in 2021 saw their coin prices and the number of players in their ecosystem drop significantly in 2022. But in a Tweeter on July 26, YGG revealed what the team had been building despite the crypto bear market.

“We believe the space is still very young and there are many opportunities out there,” John Sedano, YGG’s global community marketing manager, told BSCNews. “Nobody really saw [Axie Infinity] come, so it’s the same mentality that we work with. We are seed investors for over sixty projects, we are hiring more, creating new verticals and doubling down basically because we are very bullish on the space. The game is evolving rapidly and we believe the industry is ripe for another phase in its evolution, and YGG will always take the lead.

Sedano also stated that despite the loss of guild members due to the bear market, the guild continues to grow overall thanks to new sub-DAOs formed under YGG. The team has also hired former Binance Southeast Asia director Colin Goltra, creative industry expert Jen Yu, and promoted product development manager KNIGHTAV internally, to bring their expertise to the guild.

YGG also seeks to develop new vertical markets. Its esports teams (who have successfully competed in tournaments like the Axie Infinity Retreat, Lunacian Scholarship League Esports and Galaxy Cup events) and guild media content (through event coverage, monthly recaps of the guild and Web3, academic highlights, etc.) those they plan to develop further.

“On the Esports side, another recent recruit was Mike Ovecka, who was from the Esports department at Blizzard,” Sedano said. “It focuses on the Axie Infinity Esports team [of YGG]. For media, we have been aggressive in creating Esports content, YGG TV and physical event coverage. Pay attention to this content!

Sedano also said the guild plans to create more events for the crypto community, including blockchain week, YGG road trips, and online and in-person Esports tournaments. YGG also creates community products, like their Guild Advancement Program, which gamifies guild participation through quests that reward NFTs that can be exchanged for YGG Tokens. New games in partnership with the guild are also coming out soon, giving more opportunities for guild members to join new Esports teams and compete in more tournaments to represent YGG.

“You can think of YGG as an esports and gaming community, but with the power and leverage of Web3,” Sedano said. “We are connected to the biggest crypto projects and personalities, and have the help of the whole industry to create the biggest guild in the metaverse.”
